Annual. Stems erect or ascending, to 25 cm, glabrous or very sparsely setose. Leaves 1-3-pinnate with narrow segments, sparsely setose. Rays 3-4. Bracts pinnate, considerably exceeding the flowers. Petals white or pinkish-white, very small. Fruit 2-4 mm, with long, prominent, patent spines on the secondary ridges. Fl. 4-5. Slopes, sand dunes, fields, s.l.-1000 m.
