Erect, minutely puberulous perennial, 45-100 cm. Basal leaves obovate-oblong, 25-40 x 8-12 cm, 2-3-pinnate with 2-ternate pinnules, filiform ultimate segments 1-9 cm x c. 0.5 mm. Peduncle thick and indurated at base of umbel. Rays 7-12, unequal, 0.5-2 cm. Bracts 6-8, linear-lanceolate, glabrous, eventually reflexed, unequal, 0.5-2 cm. Bracteoles c. 6, triangular-lanceolate, unequal, 4-6 mm. Pedicels c. 15, unequal, 0-2 mm. Stylopodium of outer flowers ± conspicuous at flowering stage, disc deeply concave, rim fluted. 'Fruit' glabrous, ovoid to spherical, 5-7 x 5-7 mm; crowning pedicels c. 2 mm; style c. 2 mm. FI. 7-8. Dry gravelly often saline hills, sandy steppe, fallow fields, 1300-2000 m.
