Differing from E.thorifolium by its subtrapezoid radical leaves, broader in upper 1/3, with base not or scarcely cordate, and more reticulate-veined; stems very slender, bearing only 1-3 capitula; cauline leaves distinct; capitula 10mm diam; bracts short, 10-12 mm, with acute apex. 2n= 16. Fl. 6. On marly soil, c. 100 m.
