Pubescent perennial; stem 30-60 cm, deeply grooved, especially towards the base. Basal leaves 2-pinnate, oblong in outline; ultimate segments 6-10 x 3 cm, ± finely pinnatifid. Rays 15-30, subequal, very sparsely papillate; umbellules c. 30-flowered. Bracts 6-8, linear, lanate, shrivelling as fruit ripens; bracteoles 6-8, like bracts. Flowers yellow; styles deciduous. Fruit 9-10 x 6-7 mm, obovate,  sparsely papillose but with a few long hairs; margin c. 1.5 mm wide; commissures glabrous or pubescent. Fl. 6. Limestone slopes,fallow fields, 1650-2300 m.
