Pubescent to setulose biennial with little-branched stems 50-100 cm. Basal leaves 4-15 cm long, petiolate, 1-pinnate, segments suborbicular, ± cordate at base, crenate. Cauline leaves petiolate, 1-pinnate, segments cuneate and dentate, or linear. Umbels drooping in bud, 20-40-rayed; bracts and bracteoles absent. Flowers white, 20-30 per umbellule; petals glabrous. Fruit c. 2 mm long, ovoid, with long spreading hairs; stylopodium elongate-conical. 2n - 18. Fl. 4-8. Fields, woods, rocky places, s.l.-2500 m.
