Biennial or perennial . Stems glabrous or somewhat pubescent, prominently ridged; fibrous collar present. Basal leaves ovate to ovate-oblong, 1-2-pinnate, up to 30 x 4-10 cm, ultimate segments ovate, 15-20 x 10 mm, with ovate or oblong lobes; petiole longer or shorter than rachis; upper cauline leaves few, shortly petiolate. Rays up to 40, sturdy, 20-40 x 0,5 mm, ±equal, ± densely pubescent. Bracts 8-14, linear, up to 15 mm, pubescent. Bracteoles 8-15, free. Umbellules up to 40-flowered. Pedicels 2-4 mm. Petals white or violet, pubescent. Fruit c. 2,5 x 1,5 mm, ovoid, deeply ridged, pubescent. FI. 6-8. Rocky banks, water meadows, river banks, Picea forest, 1300-3000 m.
