Stems ± erect, branched, setose or scabrous, 8-60 cm. Leaves setose above and beneath. Petals c. 5 mm, white, pink or purplish. Fruit 10-12 x 3-4 mm, with the whole surface papillose. Spines patent or ascending, c. 1,5-2 mm. Fl. 4-6. Waste and cultivated places, s.l.-3000 m.
