Stem to 120 cm, simple or rarely branched above, sometimes slightly twining near apex, subglabrous or distichous pubescent. Leaves to 10 x 5 cm, lower broadly ovate, upper ovate-Ianceolate, acuminate, base subcordate or rounded, dark green and shining, ± pubescent, especially on veins and margins; petioles to 1 cm. Cymes 3-10-flowered, rather lax; peduncles to 4 cm. Pedicels equalling or exceeding flowers. Calyx lobes Ianceolate, glabrous or slightly ciliate. Corolla white or pale yellow, 5-10 mm diam.; lobes oblong or ovate, glabrous or slightIy hairy on upper surface. Follicles 3-7 cm, fusiform, glabrous. Fl. 5-6. Open sunny places, sandy clay and calcareous rocks, 40-c. 700 m.
