Tuber ± ovoid, irregular. Leaves with long, slender, purple-spotted petiole 11-18 cm; lamina ovate-sagittate, 4-12.5 x 3.5-9 cm, anterior lobe usually shortly mucronate, posterior lobes ovate, oblong-ovate or triangular- ovate, obtuse; base cordate. Scape 7-22 cm; erect, purple-spotted. Spathe 3-5 cm, lower part whitish or pale green with darker green or purplish longitudinal stripes, upper part dark green or dull purplish-brown. Spadix 4.5-5.5 cm, appendix greenish, apex cylindrical or clavate. Berries depressed- globose, c. 1 x 0.8 cm. Fl. 11-5. Rocky hillsides, on limestone and metamorphic rocks, Quercus coccifera macchie, Cupressus forest, banks and walls, often in shade, 10-700 m.
