Tuber vertical. Petiole of leaves 18-33 cm, ± purplish. Lamina oblong-hastate, 8.5-25 x 5.5-17 cm, obtuse to subacute, with short basal lobes. Scape 11-19 cm, much shorter than petioles. Spathe delicately washed with purple outside, usually slightly paler inside, sometimes with a very narrow purple border, 14.5-30 x 4-7 cm; tube 2.5-5.5 cm, whitish inside with purple band near middle; lamina ovate or obovate-lanceolate, broadest at or above middle, shortly acuminate. Spadix 5.5-10 cm, 0.3-0.6 x spathe. Female zone 10-20 mm; lower sterile zone 3-7 mm; male zone 2-3 x 3-5 mm; upper sterile zone 4-7.5 mm. Sterile filaments whitish-yellow, lower 2.5-5 mm, upper 4-6.5 mm. Appendix normally stipitate,  cylindrical, slender, 3-13 cm; stipe 1.5-2.5 cm, pale; club 1.6-10.5 cm x 1.7-4.5 mm, red-grey to greyish-black. Fl. 4-5. Damp ravines and slopes, c. 850-1240 m.
