Rootstock cylindrical. Stems 15-40 cm, simple, ascending to erect. Leaves lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 2.5-8 x 1.5-5 cm, acute or obtuse, often mucronate, puberulous, base subhastate, auricles longer than broad, narrowly oblongs-pathulate, widely divaricate and strongly narrowed below; petiole 1-5 mm. Peduncles 8-17 mm. Perianth 2-8.5 em, dark brown to dark purplish-brown, sometimes greenish, glabrous outside; utricle 5-15 x 4-15 mm, ovate to ovate-oblong; tube U-curved, 3-10 mm broad at base, gradually dilated above to 4-13 mm; limb 1.2-4 x 2-4 cm, broadly ovate, apex abruptly acuminate, inside dirty green with purplish-brown mottling, or purplish-brown with yellowish-green spots, hairy at throat, auricles rounded, obtuse. Ovary glabrous to subtomentose.Capsule obovoid to globose, 2.5-3.5 x 2-2.5 cm. Fl. 3-7. Rocky hills, limestone slopes, Vineyards and steppe, 40-1560 m.
