Leaves 2-6, c. as long as scape, outer one 15-35 mm broad, margin ciliolate or nearly smooth. Scape 30-60 cm. Raceme 20-50-flowered, lax. Flowering pedicels often almost verticillate, to 1.5 cm, erect in bud, then recurved, becoming patent or arcuate. Flower buds violet. Perianth olive-green with violet base, turning livid, 8-11 mm, ± zygomorphic, lobes 1/2-1/4 x tube. Fruiting raceme cylindrical with arcuate, scarcely elongate pedicels. Valves of capsule 12-15 mm, suborbicular to broadly ovate, emarginate at apex. Fl. 3-4. Macchie, hillsides, fields, 240-1500 m.
