Bulb broadly ovoid, 1-1.8 x 1-1.5 cm; tunic dark brown or fuscous. Leaves usually 2, dark green or tinged brown, erect or spreading, but rarely arcuate-recurved, 7-28 x 0.3-1.5 cm. Scapes mostly solitary, rarely 2-3, to 30 cm, 4-12-flowered. Pedicels erecto-patent or patent, 0.8-4 cm, ebracteate or with caducous subulate or filiform membranous bracts 2-3 mm. Flowers slightly nodding. Perianth rich blue with a conspicuous whitish central zone; segments at first erecto-patent, recurving with age, 10-15 x 4-5 mm, tube subglobose, 3-5 mm diam. Filaments alternately 2 and 3 mm, apex truncate, retuse; anthers 3-4 x 0.8 mm. 2n = 18 or 27 . Fl. 3-4. Open mountainsides, Pinus and Cedrus forests, 1000-2500 m.
