Leaves 2, first one 5-12 mm broad, second one often less than half as broad, glabrous with smooth, rarely slightly scabrid margin, ± tinged purplish, somewhat undulate, glaucous. Scape 4.5-15 cm at anthesis, to 25 cm in fruit. Raceme 10-15-flowered, lax to rather dense. Flowers ±sessile or pedicels to 2 mm. Perianth very dark blue-violet, ascending, 5-6 mm, tubular to tubular-campanulate; lobes c. 1/2 as long as tube, broadly elliptic, subobtuse, submucronate. 2n = 18. Fl. 2-5. Limestone gravel, hills with white marly soil, open patches in Pinus forest, among Quercus spp., 150-1500 m.
