Bulb ovoid to globose, 4–6 × 3–5 cm, without bulblets. Outer tunics papery to subcoriaceous, brown; middle tunics subcoriaceous, fawn and whitish dotted; inner tunics membranous, pinkish-white. Leaves 3–5 per scape, lanceolate, falcate, reclining, patent, canaliculate, 8–25 × 0.3–1.5 cm, green, scabrid to ciliolate only at margin and other surfaces glabrous, subacute to acute. Scape 1 per bulb, 8–23 cm long, not elongating in fruit, shorter than leaves or equal. Raceme lax to moderately dense, cylindrical, 3–8 × 2–3 cm in flower, not elongating in fruit, but growing transversely due to the expansion of the fruit and elongation of the pedicel. Pedicels of fertile flowers 3–8 mm long, shorter or longer than perianth, patent to deflexed, elongating to 15 mm in fruit. Fertile flowers oblong-urceolate, 5–7.5 × 3–4 mm, strongly shouldered and strongly constricted distally , violaceous at early stage of flowering time and turn to reddish-brown at distal and greenish-brown to yellowish-brown at proximal; lobes c. 0.5 mm long, bright yellow, but darkened by changing color in older or dry flowers, recurved. Pedicels of sterile flowers 4–15 mm long, divergent, semierect to patent, violaceous, longer than sterile flowers. Sterile flowers obconical, 2–3 × 1.5–2 mm, shorter than fertile ones, violaceous. Stamens biseriate, filaments c. 1 mm long, whitish, upper series attached 2 mm below the mouth of tube and lower series 1 mm below upper ones, anthers purplish-black, 1.2–1.5 mm long, pollen light yellow. Ovary green, ovoid, 2.5–3 × 1.5–2.5 mm; style whitish, 1–2 mm long. Capsule broadly trigonous-orbicular, distinctly emarginate, with strongly compressed wing-like valves, 8–12 × 12–18 mm.
