BULB 2.5–3.5 x 1.5–3 cm, without bulbils; outer tunics brown, inner whitish, membraneous. LEAVES 8–11, spreading-erect, linear-lanceolate, canaliculate, longer than scape, 15–22 x 0.4–0.6 cm, with a greyish median line, margins entire, glabrous. SCAPE erect, 8–16 cm, glabrous. RACEME cylindrical, dense, 2.5–5.5 cm, 7–16 flowers. Bracts lanceolate, acuminate 18–20 x 4–5 mm, longer than pedicels. Pedicels ± erect, 6–10 mm long at anthesis. PERIANTH segments 10–16 mm, white inside, green with narrowly white margins outside. FILAMENTS 7–10 x 2–3 mm, broadened and bearing wings which end in two large teeth at side of anther; anthers 2–3 mm long. OVARY 5–7 mm, narrowly ovoid, longer than slender style; style 3–4 mm. Fruiting pedicels shorter than fruit and thickened in fruit. CAPSULE 0.9–2.3 x 0.7–1.5 cm, ovoid and angular. SEED2 mm diameter, black and rough.Fl. 5, grows only on alpine steppes, 1950–2000 m a.s.l.
