Perennial, stemless or with very short stem up to 2 cm, usually with several heads in centre of rosette. Leaves tomentose at least on lower side, 2-pinnatisect to lyrate. Involucre 20-25 x 13-16 mm, oblong. Appendages a patent or reflexed yellow spine, 9-20 mm, with 2-5)-7) pairs of lateral cilia 2-4 mm . Flowers yellow, marginal not radiant, slightly shorter. Achenes c. 5 mm; pappus 6-8 mm. 2n= 20 . Fl. 5-6. Rocks, phrygana, under Pinus, s.l.-1200 m.
