Perennial, tomentose, 25-40 cm, branched in upper part with 5-15 capitula. Lower leaves 1-2-pinnatipartite, median pinnatipartite, segments 0,5-3 mm broad, upper leaves simple, linear. Involucre 10-14 x 5-10 mm, ovoid to cup-shaped . Appendages large, concealing basal part of phyllaries, shortly decurrent, hyaline with firmer straw-yellow or light brown central part, margin irregularly denticulate and ± lacerate, ending in a 0,8-1,2 mm mucro. Flowers rose-purple. Achenes 3-4 mm; pappus 3,5-4,5 mm. Fl. 6-8. Hills, steppe, Astragalus vegetation. 1500-1900 m.
