Perennial with a short usually simple stem, 0,5-10 cm. Leaves densely white-tomentose on both sides, Iyrate, with 2-3 pairs of small lateral segments, terminal segment rhombic to nearly orbicular, 8-13 mm broad, ending in a short yellow 1-1,5 mm mucro, rarely smaller lobes between lateral segments. Involucre 15-20 x 10-15 mm, oblong. Appendage a patent to reflexed spine, 8-20 mm, straw-coloured, with 2-3 pairs of 4-6 mm lateral cilia. Flowers yellow.  Achenes c. 5 mm; pappus absent. FI. 6. Rocky slopes, 1000-2190 m.
