Perennial, woody below, rhizome ending in a central rosette of leaves, several lateral erect stems, 20-30 cm, sparsely branched above. Leaves white-tomentose when young, ± glabrescent; basal petiolate, pinnatipartite with 2-3 pairs of distans linear-lanceolate segments , median leaves with one pair of segments or simple like the upper ones. Involucre 11-13 x 4-6 mm, oblong to cylindrical. Appendages medium-sized, partly concealing basal part of phyllaries, triangular to semilunar with 5-9 cilia and a hyaline decurrent margin, ending in a 0,5-1 mm mucro. Flowers yellowish with pink to violet anther-tube, marginal slightly radiant. Achenes 4,5 mm; pappus c. 1,5 mm. Fl. 5. Pinus bruita forest, macchie.
