Perennial, stem 30-60 cm,erect, usually simple,with fibrous remains of decayed petioles at base. Leaves sparsely pilose, basal and lower petiolate, usually lyratewith large lanceolate terminal segments and 2-5 pairs of smaller lateral segments or lobes , more rarely lower leaves pinnatifid, median with fewer lateral segments or like upper linear-lanceolate, sessile and narrowly decurrent. Involucre 18-22 x 12-15 mm. Appendages small, brown, broadly triangular with 5-7 palmately arranged 3-6 mm spinules, central scarcely longer. Flowers yellow, marginal not radiant. Achenes 4,5-5 mm; pappus 8-10 rom, inner row 0,5-1,5 mm. FI. 6-7. Macchie, Quercus forests, 100-500 m.
