Plant up to 100 cm. Stem and petioles sparsely pilose, occasionally bearing long-stalked glands. Leaves with long, acute-tipped multiseriate hairs and ± dense, long, acute-tipped uniseriate hairs; basal leaves triangular-cordate, up to 20 x 20 cm, obtuse to acuminate, petioles 15-30 cm; cauline leaves ovate, petiolate below, sessile above, obtuse. Capitula 4-5, disc up to 2,5 cm broad; peduncles short, ± densely long-glandular, lowest 2,5-4 cm, practically enclosed by an enveloping amplexicaul 4-5 cm leaf. Phyllaries lanceolate, densely long-glandular and with occasional uni- and multiseriate hairs. FI. 6-7. Lush alpine meadows and streamsides, 2000-2400 m.
