Acaulescent, much branched, caespitose, densely lanate cushion-plant, with up to 50 clusters of capitula. Cauline leaves c. 6 x 1mm, remote, those subtending clusters oblong to obovate, spathulate, subobtuse, about as long as cluster. Clusters of capitula 5-10 mm broad, often aggregated into secondary clusters. Paleae c. 3 x 1 mm, with short, slightly recurved 0,5-1 mm arista. Achenes 0,8-1 x 0,3 mm, oblong-obovoid, slightly papillose. Fl. 4-5. Sand dunes, dry hill slopes, s.I.-200 m.
