Erect perennial with ridged densely or sparsely arachnoid stems 15-80 cm. All leaves arachnoid below, often glabrescent above; basal adpressed to ground, persistent at anthesis, ovate to elliptic, acute or obtuse, base gradually or suddenly attenuate into winged petiole, margin subentire to dentate or crenate; lower cauline oblong-Ianceolate, sessile; upper cauline linear to Ianceolate, sessile. Inflorescence corymbose, 3-17-capitulate, peduncles 0,5-9 cm. Capitula radiate. Phyllaries 5-10 mm, linear, green or purplish, glabrous or sparsely tomentose. Calyculus absent. Ligules 6-18 mm, yellow or orange, sometimes reflexed on flowering. Achenes glabrous or pubescent.
