Biennial, 10-90 cm. Stems 1 to many, sometimes decumbent, usually erect or ascending, corymbosely branched above. Leaves 1-2-pinnatisect; laciniae filiform-setaceous or lanceolate-aristate. Capitula numerous, usually disciform , rarely discoid, 4-9 mm broad, laxly corymbose, borne on long, unequal peduncles. Phyllaries lanceolate or oblanceolate, margins white, membranous. Receptacle ovoid. Corolla lobes usually glandular at tips, rarely eglandular. Achenes obpyramidal, 1-1,5 x 0,3-0,7 mm, non-mucilaginous, both surfaces rugose, posteriorly 3-ribbed, ribs thin, acute, white; corona very short, marginiform, lobulate. FI. 5-8. Steppe, rocky slopes, cultivated and fallow fields, etc., 700-2350 m.
