Perennial, 25-52 cm. Stems 1 to many from base, unbranched or branched above. Leaves 1-2-pinnatisect; laciniae filiform, subulate. Capitula radiate, 1-1.8 cm broad , borne singly or 2 to many, corymbose; peduncles long, at first puberulent, becoming glabrous.. Phyllaries oblong or oblong-lanceolate, obtuse or subobtuse, margins pale brown or whitish, membranous, puberulent or glabrescent. Receptacle noticeably large, elongate, ovoid-conical. Ligules 5-8mm; corolla lobes of disc flowers glandular at tips. Achenes oblong, compressed, 1.3-1.5 x 1-1.2 mm, incurved, profusely mucilaginous, anteriorly smooth, posteriorly 3-ribbed, ribs thick, wing-like, white, fissures very narrow; corona lobate, white, ½ as long as achene. Fl. 4-5. Montane meadows, fields, 800-980 m.
