Erect perennial with floccose stems 40-50 cm, becoming glandular-hairy in upper part. Basal leaves petiolate, oblong-elliptic, sparsely floccose above, densely so below; cauline sessile, amplexicaul, narrowly elliptic, upper surface glandular-hairy; all leaves usually entire. Capitula radiate, 3-5 cm broad, 7-9 borne in a lax corymb. Phyllaries 12-16 mm, lanceolate, glandular-hairy. Calycular bracts few, linear. Ligules 10-18 mm, yellow. Disc flowers 4-lobed. Achenes glabrous. Pappus whitish. Fl. 6-7. Rocky places, ascending to 2100 m.
