Perennial with stems 30-50 cm. Leaves glabrous to floccose or glandular-pubescent above, densely floccose below, subentire to repand or dentate; basal petiolate, ovate-triangular, cordate; lower cauline with short winged auriculate, petiole, ovate-oblong to elliptic; often cordate ; upper cauline sessile, amplexicaul, oblong-lanceolate. Inflorescence a lax or dense corymb with 6-14 capitula. Capitula radiate, 3-4 cm broad. Phyllaries 7-13 mm, lanceolate, carinate, glabrous, floccose or glandular. Calycular bracts 3-7 mm, linear. Ligules 10-18 mm, yellow. Disc flowers 4-lobed. Achenes c. 6 mm, glabrous. Pappus 7-10mm, white. Fl. 5-8. Rocky or grassy slopes, 1300-2900 m.
