Floccose perennial with stems 30-130 cm. Basal leaves petiolate, sparsely floccose above, densely so below, narrowly oblong, pinnatisect, lobes entire or dentate, 3-7-paired, terminal lobe 1.5-4 cm wide, truncate at base; cauline sessile, auriculate, lobed to entire. Capitula radiate, 3-14 borne in a lax corymb, 2.5-5 cm broad. Phyllaries 6-8 mm, lanceolate; calycular bracts few, linear; both floccose. Ligules 10-18 mm, golden-yellow. Disc flowers 4-lobed, deep yellow or brownish. Achene 3-4.5 mm, glabrous, rarely sparsely pubescent. Pappus white, c. 7 mm. Fl. 6-7. Steppe, scrub, rocky slopes, 1650-2135 m.
