Plant 20-45 cm, eglandular or with sparse minute glandular hairs, setae numerous, spreading, 1-3 mm, tuberculate at base, ± without intermediates between short pubescent and longer setiform hairs. Basal-leaves linear-lanceolate with entire margins, 6-20x0.7-2 cm; cauline lanceolate to elliptic, 4-8 x 1-2 cm. Cymes 10-25 cm in fruit. Bracts lanceolate to ovate, 1-6x0.5-2.5 cm. Calyx 8-10 mm in flower, 13-15 mm in fruit, densely covered with setiformhairs. Corolla yellow, glabrous outside, 10-20 mm, limb 5-8 mm diam. Nutlets 4-6 mm diam., scrobiculate-reticulate; beak strongly deflexed. Fl. 5-7. Fields, rocky slopes, steppe, Quercus scrub, 1000-2500 m.
