Perennial, often tufted; stems 12-40 cm, ascending, simple, adpressed-villous, rarely glabrescent and scabrid. Basal leaves tomentose or long-pilose to sericeous, rarely subglabrous above and sparsely pilose below, ± linear, lamina 20-40 x 3-6 mm; cauline linear, lower shortly petiolate. Inflorescence corymbose or paniculate, cymes ± lax. Calyx lobes 5,5-10 mm, sparsely pilose. Corolla ultramarine, 10-15 mm, infundibular, tube subequalling or ± shorter than limb. Scales 1-2,6 mm, narrowly linear, with 2 subterminal gibbous appendages, apex very shortly obtuse. Anthers 2,5-4 mm. Style 13-15,5 mm. Nutlets orbicular, 10,5-13 mm diam., disc glochidiate-echinulate, wing entire, more rarely incurving-denticulate.
