Perennial. Stems ascending, 15-20 cm, simple, clothed with antrorsely adpressed setae. Leaves 20-60 x 3-8 mm, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, acute, margins revolute, shortly adpressed-hairy on both surfaces, adpressed-setose above, setae arising from tubercles; tubercles indistinct or absent beneath; basal petiolate, cauline sessile, upper sometimes subtending single axillary flowers. Inflorescence of 1-2 terminal cymes. Bracts similar to uppermost cauline leaves. Calyx 8-10 mm in flower, 10-12 mm in fruit, lobes linear-lanceolate, acute, adpressed-hairy. Corolla cream, 17-20 mm, ± campanulate, glabrous to minutely papillate. Anthers included, ± equalling filaments. Nutlets c. 3 mm, ovoid, subacute, lacking dorsal keel, greyish. Fl. 6. Salt steppe flooded in winter, 900-1050m.
