Perennial; subcaespitose. Stems simple, erect, 8-18 cm, patent-setose, setae arising from small tubercles, shortly hairy. Basal leaves 25-55 mm, petiolate, cauline 10-20 mm, sessile, linear-spathulate to linear, acute to obtuse, adpressed to patent-setose and densely velutinous. Inflorescence of 1 -2 terminal usually few-flowered cymes. Bracts ovate-Ianceolate. Pedicels 1-2 mm. Calyx to 20 mm , lobes linear, subacute, not or slightly accrescent after flowering. Corolla white to pale- or golden-yellow at first, becoming skyblue or pink or pale blue-violet, 18-25 mm, cylindrical-campanulate, glabrous. Anthers included or sterile tips exserted, ± equalling filaments. Nutlets c. 3 mm, with dorsal keel and short beak, pale grey. Fl. 3-7. Limestone slopes and rock ledges, screes, nr s.I.-3200 m.
