Robust perennial, 50-70 cm, shortly villous. Leaves ovate to oblong-ovate, subcordate, rounded or truncate at base, lower long-petiolate, uppermost sessile. Flowers c. 20, in well developed forked scorpioid cymes. Calyx 6-9 mm, accrescent to 19 mm in fruit, divided to 1/4-c. ½ ; lobes ovate-oblong, obtuse. Corolla white, 15-17 mm; scales 3·5-5 mm, triangular-lanceolate, shortiy exceeding stamens. Nutlets 3 mm, erect to slightly curved, areolate, tuberculate. Fl. 4-6. Shady stream banks, Pinus nigra forest, nr s.I.-1500 m.
