Perennial herb, with slender creeping rhizome with separated nodular sections, stem 30-40 cm, simple or little-branched, thinly pilose. Basal leaves long-petiolate, shrivelled at flowering-time; cauline 3-7, with scattered setiform hairs, lamina elliptic to lanceolate, upper sessile, shortly and narrowly decurrent. Flowers 1-9. Calyx 6 mm, divided almost to base, lobes linear-lanceolate, obtuse. Corolla cream, 13-16 mm, scales triangular-subulate, exceeding stamens by c. 3 mm. Filaments ½ x anthers. Style exserted. Nutlets 2,5-3,5 mm, finely tuberculate. Fl. 3-6. Shady banks and woodland, nr s.l.
