Perennial. Indumentum of very large lepidote hairs, up to 2 mm in diameter. Cauline leaves decreasing in size upwards. Racemes up to 7 cm. Sepals 6-8 mm, greatly inflated and persistent in fruit. Petals 8-10 x 3-5 mm, with very dense indumentum on entire claws. Fruits ovate, obtuse or truncate, c. 5 x 4 mm, with a dense silvery-canescent indumentum. Styles c.4.5 mm, glabrous or with a sparse indumentum in the lower half. Fl. 6. Dry steppe, 1400 m.
Endemic; Ir.-Tur. element. Allied to A. harputicum & niveum.
