Annual or biennial herb 30-60 cm, single-stemmed, usually branched above, ± glabrous, sometimes with simple and branched hairs. Basal leaves oblong-lanceolate, sinuately and irregularly toothed. Cauline leaves linear-oblong, amplexicaul, acute, with prominent auricles. Petals yellow, 5 x 1 mm spathulate, with a narrow claw; Fruiting pedicels ascending, 10-21 mm. Fruit obovoid, 7-9 x 4,5-5 mm; style 1,5-2 mm. Fl. 3-5. Cultivated places, nr. s.l.

C. Europe, S. Russia and Balkans. Usually a weed of corn and flax fields.
