Perennial, 30-60 cm, usually much branched, sparsely covered with short,thick hairs or subglabrous ± glaucescent. Basal leaves simple, long-stalked, lanceolate-spathulate, toothed. Cauline leaves linear, entire, not stem-clasping, often minutely ciliate at base. Petals 2 x 1 mm. Stamens 4-6. Fruiting pedicels erect-ascending, 2-4 mm. Siliculae 2-3 x 1,5-2 mm, ovate, without an apical sinus; valves keeled, scarcely winged, smooth; septum 2 x 1 mm; stigma capitate, ± sessile. Seeds dark brown, smooth; cotyledons often magenta. Fl. 6-9. Dry slopes, 10-1000 m.
