Stoloniferous perennial herb. Stems stout, erect, hollow, glabrous, up to 120 cm. Leaves very variable, the lower often pinnate to pinnatifid, the upper simple and serrate in the upper half; all auriculate at the base. Petals bright yellow, c. 6 mm. Fruit ovoid, 3-6 x 1-3 mm, borne on horizontal or deflexed pedicels. Style up to 2 mm. Wet places, s.l.-1100 m.
