Perennial with creeping, usually much-branched rhizome. Stems ascending or erect, 12-15 cm, leafy in lower 1/3 or throughout, glabrous. rarely papillose. Cauline leaves sessile, linear-lanceolate, obovate, 10-50 x 1-6 mm, entire or ± dentate. Flowers in spicate or paniculate inflorescence, rarely solitary, erect. Calyx lobes 2·5-3 mm, linear-subulate, erect, glabrous. Stigmas 3. Capsule ± globose, opening by 3 ± median pores. Seeds ellipsoid, small, 0·8 x 0·3-0·4 mm, light brown, shiny.
