Retrorsely pubescent-scabrid to glabrous perennial with thick taproot. Stems prostrate, ascending, 10-20 cm, densely leafy. Leaves retrorse-pubescent or glabrous, ciliate; basal crowded in rosette, spathulate-oblanceolate, obtuse or acute at apex, gradually narrowed into petiole or ± sessile, serrate, 2.5-5 x 0.5-1.5 cm; cauline smaller, ovate to lanceolate, sessile, semi-amplexicaul, slightly serrate to ± entire. Flowers inconspicuous, ± concealed by large calyx lobes, axillary, subsessile, rarely pedicels to 5 mm, in ± dense paniculate inflorescence. Ovary obconical. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, acute, erect, 4-10x2-4 mm, pubescent or glabrous, ciliate at margin. Corolla infundibular-campanulate, 6-9 mm, divided to⅓ -½ into lanceolate, acute, 4 mm lobes, lavender blue, glabrous or pubescent outside. Style exserted. Stigmas 3, very short. Capsule and seeds not known. Fl. 6-8. Rocky slopes, 1580-3300 m.
