Softly hirsute or pubescent biennial or perennial. Plant 1-many-stemmed erect or flexuous, irregularly branched. Basal leaves sometimes to 24 cm, cordate or ovate-cordate, lobulate-petiolate or sublyrate, crenate or serrate. Lower cauline leaves ± similar to basal, petiolate; upper sessile. Flowers terminal and axillary, pedicellate. Calyx lobes acuminate, less than to more than ½ length of corolla tube. Appendages ovate, wholly concealing ovary. Corolla frequently large, broadly cylindrical to infundibular, tube c. 20- x 10 mm. 2n= 34. Fl. 4-6. Stony places, limestone rocks and cliffs, s.I.-300 m.
