Perennial, dwarf suffruticose-caespitose, glabrous, branched to many stems at base, stems unbranched at apex, ascending to decumbent, flexuous, fragile, 2–9 cm long, arising from collar of a thick taproot. Leaves blades entire, crenate to dentate, glabrous; basal leaves rosullate, hemispherical, cordate to deltoid, 3–13 × 4–14 mm, petiole 7–26 mm; cauline leaves deltoid-ovate to lanceolate, sometimes with 1–2 minute lobes on petiole, 3–10 × 4–10 mm, petiole 2–7 mm. Inflorescences 1–5 flowered. Flowers terminal or axillar, subsessile or pedicellate, pedicels erect, to ca. 2 mm. Calyx lobes narrowly triangular-lanceolate, acuminate, 4–7 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, erect in flowers, mostly recurved in fruit, glabrous; appendages 1–1.3 mm ovate to lanceolate, apices obtuse to acute, reflexed, slightly reticulate veined or smooth, lower and upper surfaces glabrous, not enlarged after anthesis; margin slightly hirtellous or glabrous. Corolla narrowly cylindrical-campanulate, lavender blue to violet-blue, 12–20 mm long, 2–4 mm wide, divided to1/5–1/6 tube, sub-glabrous to minutely puberulent at outer surface, long hairy inside; corolla lobes 2–3 x 2–3 mm wide, hemispherical, apiculate. Stamen 5–6 mm long; filaments white, 2–2.5 mm long, base oblong to triangular, 1–1.5 × 0.7–1.3 mm, hairy on margin, hairs 0.3–0.4 mm long; anthers pale yellowish 3–4 mm long, pollen yellow. Ovary and receptacle glabrous; style included or sub-exserted, 8–13 mm, with short hairs; stigmas 3, 1–1.5 mm long. Capsule pyramidal, glabrous, erect, 2–2.5 × 3–3.5 mm, never hidden by enlarged calyx appendages, 3-locular, opening by basal 3-valves. Seeds broadly ellipsoid-oblong, 0.3–0.4 × 0.5–0.6 mm, dark brown, shiny. Flowering time June to July. Fruiting time July to August.
