Perennial. Rhizome slender, creeping, branched. Stems 5-20 cm, ascending-erect, unbranched, glabrous, sparsely leafy up to the inflorescence. Basal leaves up to 5 x 5 mm, suborbicular, reniform to shallowly cordate, crenate, sometimes persisting at anthesis, with 2-2.5 cm petiole; cauline variable in size, narrowly lanceolate, linear to setaceous, crowded at middle. Inflorescence ± branched, lax. Buds erect. Ovary smooth, rarely papillose. Calyx-teeth 1-4 mm, linear to narrowly triangular. Corolla 5-10 mm. Capsule 4-5 mm, turbinate to conical, pendent. Fl. 7-8. Open scrub, stony places, 200 m.
