Densely adpressed-hoary-tomentose biennial or perennial with few erect stems from a thick collar, to 45 cm. Basal leaves large, sometimes to 30 cm, lyrate. Flowers large, pedicellate. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, to c. ½ as long as corolla tube. Appendages ovate, as long as or longer than ovary. Corolla large, tube 30-35 x 30 mm, cylindrical-campanulate or urn-shaped, hoary-pubescent outside. 2n = 34. Fl. 5-6. On rocks and walls, nr s.I.-100 m.
