Perennial with subglabrous or sparsely pilose stems up to 3,5 m, shortly pilose above, retrorse-pilose below. Lower leaves 20-40 cm long, lyrate to pinnatisect, segments broadly lanceolate, serrate, decurrent, sparsely pilose; upper leaves pinnatisect to pinnate, terminal segment longer than lateral ones. Capitula globose, 4-6 cm diam., radiant; flowers pale yellow or cream. Involucral bracts triangular-ovate, gradually acuminate, blackish, pilose and pubescent; receptacular bracts similar but narrowly ovate. Involucel c. 7mm long, sparsely pilose, with 8 subequal apical teeth. FI. 7-8. Stream banks, wet meadows, rocky slopes, 1350-2600 m.
