Erect annual with pubescent and setose stems, reflexed-setose below, spreading setose above, 20-40 cm tall. Lower leaves lanceolate, entire or dentate; upper leaves pinnatisect. Peduncles becoming glandular-hairy towards top. Involucral bracts 10-15, narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, prominently nerved, glandular-hairy and pilose. Capitula 0,5-2 cm diam., few-flowered, radiant, outer flower with lanceolate petals; corolla purple-violet or bluish. Involucel 4,5-5 mm, sparsely pilose, apex with several short teeth. Calyx with numerous fine hair-like setae. FI. 5-7. Fields and roadsides, below 400 m.
