Ascending perennial herb with simple or little-branched stems, sparsely pilose to glabrescent. Lower leaves petiolate, lanceolate, entire; upper pinnatisect with linear lobes, ± connate. Involucral bracts 10-13, lanceolate, entire or pinnatifid, shorter than flowers. Capitula 4-6 cm diam., radiant, outer flowers with minutely crenate petals. Corolla lavender-blue. Involucel 5-6 mm, pilose, pits oblongelliptic, ribs between pits sulcate; corona 1,5-2 mm, with 20-22 nerves. Calyx subsessile, setae c. 5 mm. Fl. 7-8. Meadows, rocky slopes, 1900-2900 m.
