Shrub growing to 1 m, with short branches bearing rosettes of leaves. Basal leaves obovate to elliptic, entire or 2-5-lobed, sericeous when young, becoming glabrous; cauline leaves absent or ± pinnatisect. Involucral bracts 9-16, narrowly ovate-oblong, usually with median constriction, much shorter than flowers. Capitula 2-4 cm diam., radiant; flowers pink or mauvish-pink, outer ones with entire petals. Fruiting head spherical. Involucel 6-8 mm, pilose, pits 2-4 mm, narrowly oblong; corona asymmetric, 3,5-4 mm in shortest part, 7-8 mm in longest part, 30-32-nerved. Calyx setae 4-5 mm, included in corona. Fl. 3-6. Cliffs, rocky places.
