Woody climber; stems 3-4 m; young branches hollow, glabrous or glandular-pubescent. Leaves obovate to oval, 3-7 x 1,5-4 cm, obtuse, glabrous to glandular-pubescent, sessile; upper paired, connate. Inflorescence terminal, 4-10-flowered; peduncles 20-40 mm; bracteoles broad, ½  as long as ovary. Corolla yellowish, 30-50 mm, glabrous or densely glandular; tube slender, as long as limb, not gibbous. Berries red, c. 6 mm diam., clustered, simple. FI. 5-6. Screes, cliffs, roadsides, often amongst shrubs, 250-1200 m; sometimes cultivated.
